Break out the bunting.
Yep, I really put the hammer down this Xmas period. When I say, put the hammer down, that needs to be put into some perspective. You see I’d normally put in 2 hours a night, so sneaking 5 – 6 hours some days/nights, has been a return to the days of yore, when I was young, single and most specifically childless.
Notice how I said the word sneak!! It’s been all a bit covert, with a couple of 2.30am’s, which I have to be honest have left me absolutely wasted next day. Especially when my daughter climbs into our bed at 7am, with assorted cuddly toys in tow. In fact, I’m normally that knackered, I fall back asleep again straight away, once she’s given me the obligatory kicks as she gets herself comfortable on mum. Since she’s only 3, she doesn’t understand that the human body is delicate, so I normally have to line face down, to protect myself as I fall back into an unconscious stupor. Unfortunately trying to explain that dad’s been kicking ass until the early morning, tends to fall on deaf ears, both my wife and daughters.
One of the things I was quite excited about when I finally reached RR60, was the opportunity to wear some warlord armour, that was until at RR58, I decided to double-check the RR requirements and had the equivalent to an MMO cold shower. Nothing new until RR66. But heh, but I’ve been making good progress, so I hope to reach that by the end of Jan. Which to be fair, is bloody useful since I’m going to need the extra time to build up a goodly stash of Invader and Warlord crests. Just incase I need to purchase some extra bits of armour, to allow some juggling between the invader/warlord split (The warlord armour bonus’, don’t exactly fill me with great joy). I’ll probably go with a more Invader flavour up until the 70’s.
The acquisition of crests seems to be going quite well, which leaves me upbeat about having enough crests in hand to buy what I need, when I reach RR66 – RR70. My earlier worries have eased a bit. Especially once I realised you get crests for being in a zone, once destro capture your keep. Between 1 – 4 crests and 5 – 20 officer medallions, which I assume must reflect your participation in the battle for that zone. Fair enough, you get back what you put in.
What did confuse me until recently, was why sometimes I was getting a zone capture bonus, with a keep bonus and an amount similar to a keep capture bonus, and sometimes I wasn’t. Now I was “told” it was down to being an end zone/middle zone thingy. Which maybe true, but I thought really didn’t make for clear reward mechanism. I suppose it also explained why I didn’t always get a RP reward for having failed in defending a zone.
Now I have noticed a strange situation, when I will get Invader crests for capturing a keep and warlord for flipping a zone, or is it vice versa. But it has confused my wine addled brain more than a few times. Not yet worked out the logic for that one.
The other break through with RR60, was the ability to go at 70% speed with my new battlepack. Which I’m hoping will keep me just ahead of those marauding destro, who’ve up until now have been dragging my sorry ass to the ground, every time I’ve tried to make a break for freedom.
One of the benefits of these extensive play sessions, is that I feel I’ve got better acquainted with my character, my defensive play most certainly. Of course there are instances in a fight, where you look back and think DOH, I made a mistake here and there, but on the whole I do feel better about the level of my play.
So all things have been pretty good. I may even say I’ve had minor addiction to Warhammer these last few days, much like BlogTheWitch, but I think our respective RRs effectively put a yawning chasm between us. That’s before he equips the RR90 armour that he’s been drooling over. He does raise a valid concern over the new armour sets though and their impact on the game.
You see I hadn’t really spent much time looking at the stats, because realistically I’ll not be seeing them until the next time Mythic give us a RP boast up to RR100. However, when I did cast a quick glance over them, it made my balls shrivel.
How can Mythic go from a steady increase, nay one could say measured increase from Annilhator to Sovereign, which in its self is a jump, to the RR90/100 stuff. Did someone in the office sign them off when drunk? Two steps forward, one step back.
On a side note I do love the crap healer comments, which always seem to come from people with healers, which they use to seemingly validate their comments. Thanks for that, yep you’re offically on my sh!t list matey, as are all those who solo in scenario’s. No heals for you fool. Didn’t your mother never tell you not to insult healers, we’ve memories like elephants and maybe something else.
