So I’m up till 1 am on Monday night rejigging RA’s, armour and talismans on my RP, getting it all to a place where I’m happy. Next day I check Bootae’s blog and there has been a bloody respec of RA’s and mastery points. Bah humbug is all I can say.
Obviously the RA respec was down to Hardy Concessions being changed, which I was less than happy about, considering my RP needs all the love he can get, when those nasty tanks are smacking his stumpy ass around. But in the end I wasn’t willing to accept a decrease in my healing output and therefore continue to invest in that particular ability. So after much farting around and a conversation with Fastrada I decided to go with:-
Defender II (3% block, is this even possible on a RP?)
Def Defender III (12% Disrupt/Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive & Dodge)
Futile Strikes II (8% Reduction in chance to receive critical damage)
Impetus II (+12 Initiative)
Trivial Blows II (15% Reduction in critical damage)
Total = 52 points
So with my 4 pieces of invader (5% heal crit) and 2 pieces conqueror armour (+66 Int) and the above RA’s, I’ve got my chance to be crit hit down to 0.7%. Willpower, is just under the 990 mark, wounds 555, toughness 281 and initiative at 295, so overall pretty happy. I have to be honest, I feel a whole lot sturdier than my previous sentinel suit, with a crap selection of RA’s and too much will power. As I have often read/heard, you can’t heal if you’re dead.
I nearly struggled to put it all together, because I was short Invader crests due to the change over in loot in 1.4, until I remembered I could break down warlord crests into invader and with the warlord crests flowing in atm, it was no big loss.
What grates a little with the hardy concessions change,
Hardy Concession: This Renown Ability will now reduce outgoing healing.
is that the new restriction should have been in from the start, because when you think of this ability in its original form, you’d have to consider healers as the primary customer, that’s both armoured and cloth. For me it was a no brainer as RP, there was no down side.
The real impact of the damage reduction had to take the armoured WPs/DoK as the worst case. Now I can only assume that Mythic have realised that the armoured healers are getting too much love from this ability and hence the change, but not to have anticipated what was going to happen with RR80+ WP/DoK, was a little bit ill-judged. When you roll out anything, you need to look at worse case (for the game) and guarantee players will find it.
I would be intrigued to see who sticks with Hardy Concessions now? Is it going to be too expensive for what it offers, when the restrictions are factored in, especially now healing output has been included.
You never know, Mythic may have done me a favour when they changed this ability, and forced me to consider a more balanced RA set, which provides better overall protection.
