Yep, the saga continues to run and run, with an extra hey nonny nonny thrown in for good measure. There is an extra update over at EA Louse, where some of the best comments have been extracted out for your delectation. The game we love to moan about, seems to be turning into a bit of a laughing stock. Maybe I shouldn’t be posting this, but to ignore it, is potentially just as bad, but it does give me a break from dry chunks of commentary.
The bigger problem is, though amusing from armchairs spectators point of view, its all providing an unnecessary distraction from what Warhammers got coming up over the next few months. It’s probably messed around with some very important days up to tonight’s PTS session. It also doesn’t go down well with prospective punters, though I’d be surprised if they’d seen too much of it. However with the viral effect that is much-loved by PR departments it getting to all the right/wrong places.
We have the 1st paid for Warhammer addons coming and we should be reaching out to the press to get the message across, not have them snigger behind their hands when someone from Mythic turns up. Maybe an over dramatization on my part, but the old adage, there is no smoke without fire, will be seen to hold true.
Without doubt the statements about people being promoted beyond their pay grade are true, but that’s so of any company. Most people aren’t born to be managers, you need training otherwise you just flounder, exposing your worst traits, unfortunately it’s only when you get to senior senior management does this training mystically appear. As a manager you need to recognise, you probably aren’t the cleverest person in the room, there will always be someone who knows more about X than you, it’s a sobering thought, but it’s reality. You need to mold those below you to deliver the best while trying not to stifle then within the confines of teamwork. How many people have we all met, who are individually great, yet put them in a team and they become an anchor on the soul?
So yes, have a quiet chuckle to yourself about the inner workings of Mythic, but consider the damage that’s being done and how senior management above Mythic may be viewing the whole melodrama. Just be grateful we are repeatedly told that the subscriptions are good.
PS – I popped onto PTS last night to look at the rp’s awarded in tier 3 for a resource carrier arriving at the warcamp, and I received about 250 rp.
Now you need to know it was from Hallenfurt Manor, which is a long way from the warcamp, so if we assume that rps match the amount of resource carried, then it gives you a little feel for how things are panning out. I did notice that someone had injected growth hormone into the mailbox.
I also popped over to Praag, which I think is the location for tonight’s shin dig, to get a tier 4 comparison, only to find that there were guards on Martyrs Square BO. Now I’m not sure if they’re disappearing or they’ve been recently re added.
UPDATE: 15/10/2010 19.35 GMT – The guards in Martyrs Square are gone, when I just checked. Obviously they were protesting about the loss of jobs. To be honest, they should have joined a union.
