From an RP point of view, it was another successful evening with the goal of picking up RR57 achieved. Now it kept me on the server for about 2.5 hrs, so from Mythics point of view it seemed like a win. But it’s not. Any battles involving any significant number of people, turned into an 11/12 fps slide show, sometimes in the 1 – 4 range. I’ve got to be honest, it’s not fun. I shouldn’t be considering scenarios as an option on really busy nights, it’s not what I’m paying for. The trouble is, I can’t completely rule out my PC yet.
My new equipment should arrive today, which I’m sure will involve some gnashing of teeth during the refit. The case is spacious (and f’ing heavy), the SSD will be fast and the power supply will totally over the top. So I’m pretty much kissing goodbye to Saturday, since I’m also doing a new install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. With luck and a prevailing wind, I should be back online by Saturday night, which should provide an ideal testing ground for the rebuild.
When I looked at my Windows Index score, I have the following
3D & Gaming 7.7
HD Transfer 5.9
So the HD transfer rate should see a bit of an uplift. I was also doing some benchmarking while I was busy on another job, so I could just see what the temperature could climb to, which in this case was 64 degrees C. So really not that hot for a GFX card.
It’s still to early to form an opinion on the officer medallion change. Obviously the 20 you get for flipping a zone will be useful, as will the 5 you get when getting them for killing another person and winning the roll. Though I did wonder if the BO defend/kill tasks had also been uplifted. I think it’s one of those things that will be more useful when you are leveling a character from 30+ onwards and are actively involved in ORvR. I would imagine that you’ll be able to buy that Conqueror armour, that a lot of people just skipped on the way to Invader.
Another thing that I noticed recently and it did surprise me when I realised it, but how few city seiges seem to be kicking off on Karak Norn during prime time. Now I tend to look at this, as between the hours 7 – 11. I mean there are ones kicking off after that and maybe before I’m on, but having been on 3 or so hours, I’m not really up for a city scenario, where I give or receive an ass spanking.
Even when destruction are out numbered, they are still putting the brakes on Order enough, that it’s pushing this final confrontation later into the night. I never thought I’d say it, but I’m kind of missing my city seiges.
On a final note, my character is starting to look good. I think the key bit was the invader chest piece.
Someone got some easy rps, since this was outside the Order WC in Chaos Wastes and I forgot to move him inside, woops.
