Okay my first question has got to be, is there such a thing?
Let me try to explain the situation. I have a KotBS called Eldriche, whom I recently resurrected so he could become the guard bot for an ex guildie (Grimbul The Slayer), who’s one of the few people I know well, that’s still playing Warhammer. As we all know slayers are delicate little flowers, who need to protected from those horrible chaos people. They need to be loved and nurtured, especially since they’re cuddly little dwarfs.
So there we were last Wednesday night, playing scenarios, with me trying to relearn the abilities and behaviour of a tank. Like most characters, it’s takes a while before things start to become second nature. Now since Eldriche is played solely to team up with Grimbul, I’ve totally respeced him to function as defensive tank. All the tactics, morales, equipment and auras are there to enhance Grimbuls functionality or reduce his targets. He’s barely able to cut custard at the moment, he’s that lacking in offensive.
Later on in the evening, we were pugged up with another player, a Bright Wizard, who I later learnt was totally PBAOE spec’d. He pretty much immediately said “Don’t forget to guard”. Well I was, Grimbul, so no problem there I thought. Ha ha, I’d misunderstood you see. What he was really saying, which I’m sure you’ve already worked out, was I should have been guarding him. Well if I’d thought about his early comment with more than just, in one ear out the other processing, then I would have deduced at the beginning, he meant himself.
Now last time I looked, I was paying for my own subscription and in choosing to play a tank, shouldn’t I be the person who decides whom I guard OR should I be guarding the person who most benefits the group (Scenario PUG in this case)? I appreciate I could swap my guarding, but both classes need to be in the thick of it and would therefore need simultanous guarding.
Well as time passed within the scenario, he got more forth right in his views, telling me it was far more important that I guard him (BW), than a slayer. When the scenario had finished, he had far exceeded the damage of my slayer friend, without a guard. But does it actually warrant me guarding him over my friend, does he have some divine right? Personally I don’t think so, but heh there may be some unwritten rule I may have missed.
Oh by the way, does anyone know if there a addon which tells me that someone is guarding me? I have one that tells me whom I’m guarding, but vice versa?
