Well Laminar (BW) has made some pretty good progress up the Realm Ranks this week, with him closing the distance between his actual character rank and realm rank. It was at one point a 3 level split, but now is just 2 and closing as we speak. So at the present time he has a CR of 29 versus a RR of 27. To be honest it’s taken a while to twig to the fact, that I needed to be in on the zone capping and actually taking a more active part of BO/Keep Take process to keep them in step. I thought it was enough just to be killing people, but I was sadly wrong.
Which actually gets me onto the point of this post. Yes I’ve had a very successful week from a character progression standpoint, but it was less than riveting in respect to the overall game experience. Now this isn’t to say I didn’t take pleasure when Order succeeded in capturing a zone, hell who wouldn’t when their influence and realm bars jump forward in a nice and healthy manner. But it wasn’t a barrel of laughs. Now I am sure more than a few of you are going, doooohhh, it’s not called the choo choo for nothing.
Now I still think something is slightly to cock, when you can hammer away at a keep for an hour and achieve less than flipping burgers down at McDonalds, if I was to draw an analogy (Apologies to you burger flippers out there). Yes you’re grabbing rp and influence, but it’s still a trickle compared to an unopposed zone flip. Now Mythic added extra loot bags to reward the capture of difficult keeps, but let’s be honest if you’ve followed a purely a ORvR/scenario based leveling path, obtaining the epic armour isn’t hard at all. So really the phat loot at the end of a keep take/defence isn’t really that much of a reward anymore. Neither is the defence tick. Yep you’re defending the keep and holding back the Horde Destruction masses, but let’s be frank, it’s hardly the same as going on a Rampage in Unreal Tournament. Now there isn’t nothing that I love more than a good fight over a BO, but those keep fight’s still don’t have the same appeal.
I did ponder a RP multiplier ( *2 to *5) based on the amount of time a conflict was active around a keep, but I just had this rather nagging feeling that it was merely an exploit waiting to happen. Which it is. Maybe we just need people to worth more when keep fighting is involved. We shouldn’t still be in the situation where an unopposed zone flip is more appealing that a hard fought battle.
You could say rightly say, it’s my choice to now follow the Choo Choo, but when your play time is limited, you have to feel that you’re making progress else you might as well hang up your wand. It’s not really much of a justification, but without a really active guild, I have to take the only option available to the masses when you log on ….
“Where’s the warbands atm”
As a little laugh at myself, I will point you at something I wrote many eons ago deriding the very behaviour I seem to be adopting Arrrrrrggggghhhh
Have a nice weekend …. Now where’s my train.
PS – The guild actually hit 2 members online at the same time this week, so hello Perly and Digi. Rooaarrr Warhammers going back up the subscription slope!!!!
