So I backup all the data, strip the motherboard/cpu and other crap out of the case. Check out the construction of the cooler, which protrudes further then the width of my current case. Deduce that the CPU needs to go into the motherboard fairly early on, before too much of the cooler is built. So I open the CPU OEM box to find NOTHING.
Now I don’t tend to open the individual boxes until I’m about to do the build, since I really don’t want to expose the components to my clumsiness. Oh boy that’s going to change.
As you can probably imagine, I’m not in a happy place at the moment. Luckily there was a queue on the phone, before I got to speak to a company representative, which allowed me to redress my mental state.
From speaking to this sales guy, it appears that I am one of 15 people this has happened to, since some muppet in stores, booked back into stock the empty OEM boxes, which then got sent out to customers. They build custom PCs, so that’s why the boxes were empty.
The CPU should be with me tomorrow morning, before 1pm. So I will grab some lunch and then proceed to pick up a paint brush. No gaming tonight, methinks.
I bet you didn’t think you would be hearing back from me so soon.
PS – On wifes laptop at the moment.
