So Laminar is already level 8 RR8 and wearing his Decimator armour. Wooohh I hear you cry. Yep, I think this is the 1st time I’ve actually kited out one of my characters with quality armour at such an early level. Normally I’m straight through tier 1, with barely a token to my name.
What’s also quite nice, is that I’ve managed to acquire 15 soldier tokens (tier 2), which puts me 5 short of having enough for the Obliterator shoes and gloves. Now I’m assuming that this is all based around me pretty much ORvRing for the first 8 levels, but lets say I always take those “Defend this objective” quests, when available, it’s stupid not to. Taking part in a few zone captures, has also provided a big bump it seems. Though since I don’t tend to keep a running total of where I’m at with ye olde tokens, I wouldn’t bet my life on it. Saying that, the later tiers do, so why should tier 1 be any different.
I have no idea what tier 2 is going to be like. Will I have to resort to humping my ass over bigger battlefields for little or no reward? Will I be scenario bound for 90% of my game playing experience? At least I will be able to get a feel for whether tokens drop more frequently in ORvR, rather than in scenarios. Which I have always assumed is the case.
At level 8 I also picked up my first ranged AOE. What surprised me, was when I saw it output 2/3 of the damage of my highest single target spell. It doesn’t take Einstein to work out that 2 or more players close together justifies the use of that spell. Doesn’t kill them as quickly, but certainly allows you to tag them for the purposes of grabbing xp/rp. Given that it’s got the same spell duration of 3 seconds, then I might as well. It just doesn’t seem right, that’s all.
Another first, is that I have actually gone and bought some low-level intelligence gems for my vacant sockets, all in the vain hope of being able to perform a true face melter. We live in hope.
So all in all I going to award Warhammer a fun factor of 7.5 at the moment (Nothing ever gets 10).
