I grabbed this screenshot from one of my guild members who had posted it up on our guild forums for our delectation, well I enjoyed it at least. I think he was slightly flabbergasted at the information it presented, when it popped up on his screen. With a queue this size, you’re going to have plenty of time to get things done around the house. He did say the queues give him time to cook his evening meal, but this was at a time when the queues were sub 2 hours. Now he’s going to have time to cook dinner, go to sleep and still have time for a full fry up in the morning.
As you can imagine, he’s less than enthused at the situation, if his comments in the forums chat are any indicator. So even though I think queues are useful, in as much as they mean the server is still busy. Eight hours plus, does tend push that theory into a new dimension. Another guildie got a queue of 9 hours +, so if you can beat that, than congratulations.
Now normally I wouldn’t suggest you have 2 mmo subscriptions running at the same time, but at the moment if you are playing Aion (Attempting to), then I definitely think it’s a go-er. Infact I think you would be able to make significant progress in this other MMO. Would it be improper to suggest Warhammer?
I have to feel some sympathy for the developers, since launch weeks must be a nightmare. Too many servers and you’ll be merging them together before you know it, in a move that will only be viewed negatively, too few and you have queues of this size. I would imagine that they will be offering up additional days as compensation for the queuing problems. I’ve always felt that Mythic were good at recognising pretty quickly, when they needed to offer out any additional days.
Otherwise, you need to open a hole in your firewall to allow yourself to log onto your home PC from work/school, so you can kick start you login at about …. 10 am, all ready for a 7pm session. I’d probably not be arranging any Aion group events in the near future.
Okay I’m going to admit, I’m feeling a little bit of schadenfreude at the moment.
Update: 2 new Aion servers incoming. 1 for NA and 1 for Europe, with the server cap being increased. So things should get better soon. Looks like my period of schadenfreude was bloody short. Bah Humbug.
