I honestly thought that at least a few people would come through and suggest one thing they would like to change in Warhammer, which was the subject of my previous post. But after a couple of days and no a hint of a comment, I have to assume that people are either truly bone idle or are so happy with Warhammer that Mythic can sit back and enjoy the feeling of a job well done. Funnily I don’t think it’s the latter, but maybe that’s just my perception. Okay, so with that moan over with, onto a more normal service.
Eldric my KotBS (Who hit 38 last last night), is now into the final Empire vs Chaos zone, the Chaos Wastes and so is really on the home stretch.
Now it dawned on me last night, that I don’t bother to read the quest text anymore, bar a cursory scan for the zone it’s in, just to make sure it’s not in another racial pairing. Honestly it’s a bit disappointing that I have taken this tack, but generally it’s accept the quests and just see the red bubbles pop up, rinse and repeat ad infinitum. I suppose that’s a knock on effect of the red quest outlines on the map, they simplify things so much, that you can take this tack. I can’t imagine I am alone with this particular habit.
Another thing I have noticed recently, was that the influence rewards for the chapter PQs were not that interesting from a stat viewpoint, they just don’t seem competitive versus the RvR armour. Pretty much the core of my PvE and RvR armoursets have been based off the RVR vendors. Not the medallion ones either, whom btw I have not used once, since I started this character from level 1 (I would assume that’s because I have avoided ORvR like the pox). The PQ rewards, have a mixture of stats, that really don’t sit well into the strength/weaponskill (PvE) and toughness/wounds (RvR) armoursets, which I have constructed, they have what I deem to be, to many non core stats. Once I hit 40 I will try and round them out a little more.
While waiting for scenario’s to pop last night, I decided to join a few guildies out in the Chaos Wastes. Now the net result of this, was a new RR (31) and a bit of an education on some of the abilities on my character, that I hadn’t used in the previous 38 levels, by a non KotBS player (Yep the shame of it). In my defence, I thought the AOE detaunt (-30% reduction in damage) was PvE only and the PBAOE root, which could have it’s effects broken by damage, was pointless (But I did have the DAOC root in mind when making a comparison). Well regardless of that, I must now learn to incorporate these 2 abilities into my warhammer function list, so they become instinctive. Hopefully it will not take to long, and I will not bring shame onto my guilds ….. bah humbug.
But it does make me laugh that I had ignored these 2 abilities for so long, just because I thought they were pointless, oh well you live and learn. It does make me wonder, who else out there plays their characters without truly maximising their characters potential. Luckily I have a guildies who will educate me and not cry out NEWBIE, until after I log off vent.
The other good news from the guild stand point, is that there is the potential for a LotD night, which I hope will fill in the massive gaps in my equipment for my KotBS, though I would be just as happy to play my Rune Priest. I just need to clear it with the BOSS (wife) and take it from there. Actually a guild night in LotD should be a nice fun experience.
Finally, it was good to see that Warhammer Mac Beta is out with a 10 day trial and hopefully those poor desperate MAC players will get a chance to get off the WoW bandwagon, at least long enough to have the chance to complain that Warhammer isn’t WoW.
