Well the LotD PR campaign is fully loaded and being unleashed on many a blog and news site. As usual it’s been nicely done and all credit to the PR department. Now apart from being amused by it’s charm, the question I ask myself, am I really that bothered by it. I mean, I am sure the scarab effect will be nice, but does it really impact on me as a player. Do I even care about working out the puzzle? Does this intern say a lot about me, about the type of player I am? Regardless of my lethargy, Kazamxi has got together all of the story currently available, so follow the yellow brick road.
Now this could all be sour grapes on my part, since there was no bone in the post for me and hitting the dustbin looking for a suitable chicken bone, doesn’t really count. So that has to be factored in to any particular commentary on my part.
But what is the target audience for this whole campaign, I mean if it’s blog readers, then that’s a rather limited group. I know that my daily viewing figures would struggle to maintain a football team (soccer), let alone an American football team. Are Mythic trying to reach out to new people, or are they just merely trying to involve the players in something to do while at work, I mean it surely beats working?
However that point aside, it’s still nice to see Mythic and GOA making an effort, so hats off to them.
I still haven’t got around to ordering a new pc and I am finding I just haven’t the impetus to order it for just one game. So when I eventually get around to sorting it out, I will I am sure bemoan the stupidity of not getting one sooner, since Warhammer is so much sweeter with more processing grunt.
If I can, I am going to hold out till October 22nd and just start out with Windows 7, probably buying a Technet subscription for the year to sort out the Windows 7 licensing, for the main gaming PC and a couple of other boxes around the house.
Maybe the SSD prices/performance will be acceptable by then, possibly with some SATA 3 chipsets on the motherboards as well. So throwing one in, as an OS/Game disk will make sense as well.
Anyways have a good weekend and prepare for the release of LotD on the 16th June (Europe 17th?).
