Those of you, who spend some of your time reading Warhammer blogs will probably already know, there has been a marked downturn in the number of active blogs recently, with others choosing to embrace a broader spectrum of topics.
Today I found out the Way Of The Chosen has also gone down the dodo highway and is no more (Stay with it past the familiar part). Which is all rather sad to be honest. I will not go into all the others which have chosen to cease posting, since Grimnir has already covered this more than admirably.
Now the question I would have to ask is, is it the game or just the blogging itself that has forced peoples hands. It’s not easy to try and be thought provoking on a daily basis (or in my case thrice weekly) and if you aren’t careful you only end up with a pile of drivel. Guilty as charged your honor.
Maybe when the passion goes, so does the drive to seek out and understand the inner mysteries of a game, especially when that game is Warhammer. Ultimately I think it comes down to, you just don’t give two hoots anymore.
I have wondered if my limited play time has helped insulate me from some of the burnout issues people have had. Maybe because I started so much later in the warhammer blogging arena, I have yet to reach that inevitable crisis point. Though I do try not to put myself under to much pressure regarding this blog, it’s not like it’s my lively-hood depends upon it. Which is a godsend, since I think the family would end up starving.
There is a silver lining in this greyish blogging cloud and that is, it does force me to pick up other blogs which I really didn’t have time to read before.
