After an incident a few weeks ago, when I wasn’t carrying a one handed sword and shield when trying to tank a BO champion. I thought I better get a new addon prepared for easier equipment swaps. Bluesky in my guild had previously recommended I look at EquipmentSets, when I raised the need to change addon away from ClosetGoblin. Just incase you are scratching your head about the subject matter, I am merely talking about the ability to swap armour/weapons with just one click of a button.
I can’t stress enough, the possibilities that 2 armour sets can provide. Right tools right job. I appreciate that it soaks up a lot of inventory space, but if you aren’t crafting, then space really isn’t going to be a problem.
Another strong point of EquipmentSets, is that you can tie in specific tactics to armour set swaps. So if you have a defensive/aggressive set of tactics, these will swap at the same time. Though I would be remiss not to remind you that the tactics have a post combat cool down of 8 seconds. So you can swap your amour, but your tactics may not flip. So keep an eye out for that, it caught me out when I was trying to tank a champion mob.
So you have swapped equipment/tactics, so you might as well be allowed to swap morale abilities, which EquipmentSets happily allows. Just like with tactics, you tie in the Morale to the equipment set currently selected.
At the moment (Lvl 15) I am using a double handed sword, with mainly strength gear for PVE (Tactic 15% increase in damage -30% in armour), while for scenarios/ORvR and champion mobs I swap to 1 handed sword and shield, with wounds and toughness based armour.
When you install this addon for the 1st time, you will have a number (1) in the centre of the screen. If you click on it, it will expand into a drop down list of 3 armour/tactic/morale sets. Clicking on any of these will flip to the armour set bound to that number.
How does it know what equipment, belongs to which numbered set? Really obvious, in fact to obvious to me, in the start. If you have equipment set 1 up, then everything on the character at that time, is in that set. If you change to (2), then by default what is on your character is in number (2), but if you drop in a new belt, while (2) is on the screen, then this becomes part of equipment set 2. The tactics you have on the screen at that time are automatically joined to that equipment set. It really is that simple.
Now remember if you start swapping tactics, outside of the equipment sets, then they will become attached to the currently active equipment set.
A nice feature, is the addition of a set of flying arrows icon to the action bar. This will one click swap you between equipment sets 1 & 2 and vice versa.
If you want to be really clever, you can tie an equipment swap, into the firing of an ability. As a test I put perservance in as a trigger ability for equipment set (1), which is my defensive equipment set. You can set up to 3 trigger abilities per equipment set, so as you can imagine the world is your oyster. The one thing I haven’t figured out, is how to delete perversance from the trigger abilities. Woops.
As I said earlier, for certain character types, you should be looking at swapping your equipment based on the situation. If I recall correctly, I was getting a 25% damage increase with my Runepriest PvE set, versus it’s healing set.
When it’s all said and done, it’s a bit more work, but well worth the time invested.
