Yep, it was a comment from filmgoblin and the experiences from my guilds warband evening, that made me realise something quite significant. I am not getting any kind of buzz from ORvR.
I do a bit, from the scenario fights, since they are more balanced, but they are still don’t deliver that killer blow, but ORvR just isn’t hitting that sweet point. Up until 1.2.1, it’s just not been there. Whether it turns up after 1.2.1, we will have to wait and see. This game is all about the numbers you can field and I can begin to envisage wastelands of content, that’s going to be populated by just one side.
Maybe this is why Mythic felt medallions needed drop in scenarios. If you are constantly getting you arsed handed to you in ORvR, then that means no medallions. So medallon drops in scenarios would help a little, to balance that out.
But why is the buzz MIA? I think it’s probably down to the one sided slaughter fests that I am currently experiencing, whenever I pop my nose out of a war-camp, in tier 4. I find there is little or no skill involved. You hunt down the lesser numbers and the greater numbers hunt you down, that’s basically the circle of life at the moment. I don’t think this is what I had in mind when Mythic touted Warhammer. The idea’s worked on a conceptual level, but just haven’t hit the spot in game.
I just miss the feeling of beating a group of my equals or betters, that was so tangible in DAOC.
