When it comes to ORvR? Does it really come down to the side who fields the most players, wins. Can a small 2 group warband outgun superior numbers, like a full warband?
Well after our guilds second warband evening, I was starting to think that it was all about the numbers. The number of times we had just been overwhelmed, by lots of people, was starting to indicate a bit of a pattern. A bit depressing really.
Now a couple of days later, I had a thought, had we merely missed a few opportunities to properly deploy our forces. For instance there was one time when we were being chased over a long bridge, if we had deployed our tanks into a blocking pattern, we could have allowed our AOE people, to execute some tightly focused murdah. It was thoughts like that, which keep the dream alive, that tactics will have some place in this game. Had our assisting been as good as it could have been? I mean sometimes, the battle comes down to who breaks first. As soon as one sides breaks it’s nearly always over, it’s no longer a battle, just a rout.
I always felt in DAOC, that our guild group could take on double our numbers, but in Warhammer I don’t get that feeling that often. Hopefully with more practice things will firm up.
What was very nice, was to see 15 guild people online at the same time. I think our highest numbers online for a while. I would like to think that people will see improvements in the warbands performance and think about how best to combine abilities to maximise the warbands dps.
Final thought. For a game that wasn’t meant to have a lot of CC, it surely seems like its riddled with it. I did like the simple days of Stun, Mez and Root in DAOC.
Edit: Another typo, grrrrhhh.
