When I pick a class to play, I don’t tend to research it. I will pick it because it seems interesting or it’s required by the guild, but mainly because it’s interesting. Now I been playing the white lion for a while now and to be honest it seems okay.
Now damage seems low sometimes, but since I don’t tend to go into formal metrics and analysis, I just tend to go by feelings. But this comparision tends to be versus how my runepriest is taken down by a witchelf. As a white lion is my dps meant to be similar to a witchelf ? But I certainly don’t seem to take down equal level cloth wearers that fast.
The pet can be is annoying, it arrives at the target at the same time as me, so I always have to start moving towards the target after I set the pet off. This is make sure the mobs initial target is the pet, this then allows me to move around the back and hit it with my back and side styles. But it does seem to take a while for the pet and the mob to agree on the position they are going to fight in, which intern slows me down, while I get optimum position. I perfer not to strike until they have settled down. This obviously effects my initial dps. I really would like my pet to move around the battlefield with a little bit more zip than it currently exhibits. I resent having to use a tactic slot to get more pet speed.
Another thing which ticks me off, is the responsiveness of my pet to commands, it just takes a age sometimes to get it’s ass in gear. Again, this could be down to the interface, but whatever it is, it’s not really snappy enough.
Since I don’t have any expectations about a class, it’s not until I read some of the forums, does it become clear on some of the characters short comings. Just things that don’t seem to be there. They do say that ignorance is bliss.
Now at the moment, I tend to use the snare a lot, since nothing worse than someone running away as you are trying to stove their head in with an axe. But at level 23 that’s all I have, so not until I get to level 40, will it become clear on whether I have been short changed or not with abilities.
What I would say is, that once my runepriest got rune of burning, then the leveling and taking down of mobs certainly felt faster with that character than this one. Which I am quite sure isn’t meant to be happening. I know I need to use my white lion to maximise my dps, but I often feel that we aren’t talking the same language. That telepathic bond we share, is certainly on a rubber band.
An annoying bug, which I am not completely sure isn’t intentional and therefore falls under the game design category, is that when my pet wanders into mobs during a fight, then the agro jumps to me, not my pet. So even though we are 2 individuals on the screen, the agro just sees me. This one honesly bugs me.
However are all these just minor niggles and I am just being a wimp, should just toughen up? Do I need for my character to feel ubah? Hell at worst I have a character I have leveled to 40, if it’s a pile of pants in ORvR, then it just doesn’t get played. As far as I am concerned it becomes a wasted character on the Mythic Warhammer roster. Mythic’s loss not mine.
I believe a very valid complaint, is the styling of my white lion at 23, yes the artwork is crap again. It’s got all the panache of a cold turkey. It just looks so uncool, more like some poor sap who is going to be fired out of a cannon. I understand the need for characters to become visually more appealing as they level, but it’s got to get better. So much of the elven artwork is one dimensional. No real detail. Will Mythic address this chronic lack of styling in the early levels, I hope so.
My aim is for this character to become my tier 3 buddy. So if the guild decides on tier 3 for the evening, then I am prepared.
