Okay, I was reading Waaagh when I reached this section of the interview with Carrie Gouskos (UI and Tome lead). Now you will not find any real detail, but it’s what is being implied about 1.3. On a side note, I whole heartly agree with Syp initial comment.
WAAAGH!: Lots of people are saying that exact thing, that 1.2 is kind of a “relaunch” for WAR, with the full set of classes, 10-day trial, forums, etc.
CARRIE: Man… that’s so funny, because for me 1.2 feels small compared to 1.3!
WAAAGH!: dum dum DUMMMMM
CARRIE: I mean, on a team by team basis, I can’t speak for the other teams, but I’m so stoked about some of our 1.3 work, we’re fixing some things that I’m frankly sad are still in the game, and doing a couple really cool new things as well.
Now I have barely settled into 1.2 and 1.3 is already being wafted under my nose. It’s good to hear that RVR achievements are finally going to make it in (Read the whole interview). I think it’s long overdue, especially when we have had Dammaz Kron for so long.
One thing that’s a bit strange, is that we now have so many kill stats for mobs and soon people, that I don’t have the same kind of interest I had, when I only had 10 or so stats in DAOC. Maybe it’s something I should pay more attention to in the future, but it could be I find it a bit over whelming. Could this be a presentation issue? How about a 2nd monitor support, with the ability to just dump information panels onto it?
What I will say is, that Mythic have to keep up with delivering solid punches like 1.2, while they still have living people in the development teams. If Warhammer does fail to hit the lofty heights that were initially envisaged, then it will not be for want of trying post launch. If 1.2 had been the delivered product at launch, I think that senior management would be feeling a lot more comfortable nowadays.
