Well it was my 2nd night of dungeoning in Altdorf and even though we successfully completed all 3 dungeons, I can honestly say it wasn’t the most inspiring way to spend 4/5 hours of valuable free time. It wasn’t the people, they were all fine and 99% of the time a joy to be with. But the dungeons are just blah blah blah blah blah blah. I feel like I need a couple of weeks off, just to get rid of that deflated feeling. My mind boggles how some of my guild mates could have found the drive to have tramped through that crap so many times. Nothing shows more, how truly crazy they are.
Dearest Mythic, how can you justify repeatable forcing people to drag their characters through that dire content, just for some perverse need to pad out the game. Seriously how many times is enough, 5, 10, 15+ times. This isn’t WoW, I didn’t come wanting to repeat the same boring nonsense just to provide the necessary survivability to repeat the Lost Vale, which may provide armour that allows me survive a couple of blows from the king. Big mistake, as Julia Roberts would say (Name the film).
Oh yes, those bloody diseased portals are appalling. I was constantly running around and yet I couldn’t get over a portal without dying. Where is the skill in this situation, when you can’t actually survive if it pops under you, if you have no ward armour. So a big fat -1 from the school of common sense. After much deliberation and with a night to sleep on it, I am merely going to put the halfwit developer who came up with that in the corner, with a D for dunce carved into their forehead. You must have made your mother so proud when you got out of primary school last week.
All in all, I actually found DAOC:Trials Of Altantis more fun than this. At least there, you had multiple things going on, with finding the 3 activation scrolls, obtaining the artifacts and then the leveling of those self same artifacts. Not waiting on lady luck to shine on you, after another “Epic” encounter experience from a Mythic designed dungeon boss. Did I happen to miss the creative encounters?
Apart from that gripe, from an equipment point of view, it was a great success, 2 pieces of armour of ruin, a chest and a helm. Boy how my survivability improved once I had just the 1st piece on. So I am really intrigued to see how it goes once I get to test the 2nd piece. Unfortunately Fortunately that will not be for a while, with the wife and child returning tomorrow.
I had also been given the belt from the set, but this item doesn’t provide any increase in my ward set resistance. Just pushes up the number of bonus’s I get. But every little bit of stat enhancement counts.
Regardless of these nice bits of equipment, I am not enthused with the whole process. I feel that game wise I am being punished in preparation for a whole assault on the king thing.
Offsetting this general level 40 malaise, is that Modhran my white lion has reached 20 and I finally got my horse. Thank god for that. I will always appreciate that Mythic never set this mount at a silly unaffordable level. Though the 150 gp price for the level 37 guild mounts, has made my pocket decidedly nervous. However since the guild is only at level 26, there is plenty of time to level and garner more wealth.
