Credit where credit is due, Mythic are really showing their smarts with the build up to the announcements on the 29th of January. This mini campaign has a certain charm, which gets it past my normal ad filtering system, though being a Warhammer player certainly makes me more susceptible. Regardless of this, it has a roughness which is appealing, like people had fun coming up with the ideas and marketing didn’t go to mad with red marker pen.
I assume that you know about all of these Mythic postal packages, since you will probably have reached here from another blog. But all the major indicators are pointing towards:-
3. A possible live event for Werits – Valentine’s Day, maybe it’s going to be a derivative of the Valentines Day Massacre re-enacted in a Warhammer style. The current theory is that there are 13 valentine’s day cards forming a Waaagh – Hangman like puzzle, though its GirlIRL who did the real work.
This is Mythic building anticipation in a very clever way. The only sad thing is, people outside the Warhammer world are not seeing this build up. I think it would really highlight the difference between Mythic and some of the other developers. I acknowledge I have always had a soft spot for Mythic, mainly because they have always seem to be trying to make an effort. Not always successfully unfortunately, but their heart seems to be in the right place.
I hope that there is more on the table on the 29th of January, than just these two characters, though I wouldn’t want to appear to ungrateful. Ultimately it’s not the characters that make the game, it how the game plays. For me it’s always the changes to the games mechanics, that receive the most attention. Roll on the 29th.
