In theory this is a great concept and I like what it brings to the table. The fact that teamwork can deny the foe access to an area, warms the cockles of my heart (Translates to – Makes me very happy). But as with all these grand concepts, it comes down to application of this concept in Warhammer, that things begin to go awry.
So why in gods name do we have collision detection enabled when moving around our own realm mates? Now I can understand this function being enabled around the destruction (Remember I am order), since it obviously allows destruction tanks to create a shield wall, thus protecting their squishies. But I still can’t fathom it functioning for members of my own realm.
You know I often feel like smashing my head on the keyboard, when I am trying to go up and down ramps in a keep battle, when you are bouncing around/off your own realm. My tanks are above me and they need healing, yet my own realm is basically denying me access. Yes I could group heal, but this doesn’t allow for more focused healing, especially when the lord opens up with a lot of damage.
On top of this you get a significant drop in frame rate for fortress and keep takes, you can often fall off the ramp, while merely trying to navigate the multitude of players hanging just beneath the platform that the lord sits on. I just wish that the fat arse tanks would just suck in their guts and let me slide through. Harsh but fair I think.
What really doesn’t help is your characters inability to slide around objects. To often I find I am walking into a player/object, when I should have maintained some forward motion, with a simple slide around the object.
As you can probably tell, this particular issue annoys me, so I am kind of crossing my fingers that it gets resolved sooner rather than later. I still feel it shouldn’t have got out of beta.
