Over the last couple of weeks I have managed to watch a few films. Now when I trot off to the cinema I am looking to be entertained. You can throw in a little bit of education as well, but lets not go mad with the education though, eh.
Well the 1st film was Yes Man starring Jim Carrey. For me this is a return to form for Mr Carrey, since he’s had a quiet couple of years in my opinion, though I was never a great fan of old rubber face. However if you look at the actual premise of the film, which is constantly saying no to “stuff”, for whatever reason, narrows your outlook on life, then it hit the mark. This isn’t a deep film in the slightest, but it did make me think about my general outlook on life, 7/10.
The most recent film was Defiance, based on a three Jewish brothers who escape from Nazi-occupied Poland into the Belarussian forest, where they attempt to build a community in the woods to help protect their Jewish people from death in the ghettos. This was a enjoyable film, though I gather there is some discussion in Poland about the very nature of the village/warband that was created and some of the things that took place for their survival. Regardless of that, I would say it was a 8/10.
Upcoming film choices range from Seven Pounds and Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans. I have no idea what the full plot of Seven Pounds actually is, though I have read a brief synopsis, but it’s Will Smith so its worth a shot. Of course Rise of The Lycans, will be more of the same, but I tend to view SciFi/Fantasy films like oasis-es, few and far between, so I can’t afford not to take a drink.
Unfortunately no Warhammer tonight, I need a few early nights. Going to bed at 1am and getting up at 6am is a job for younger men. I did treat myself to a large Domino’s pizza (The wife stole 4 slices, but I pushed myself into gorging down the rest).
I did come across a new blog I hadn’t read before Wizards And Wenches, now I haven’t had chance to read it yet, so I haven’t added it to my blog links yet. However from a design point of view it was very special. Top banana.
