Well the 3rd event has come to an end. As per usual I didn’t finish it, but that’s normal nowadays, it proved to be a pleasant distraction. But with the accelerated rested xp bonus we were getting, my tendency was to focus on my leveling. So levels 31, 32 and 33 were spent in a humaniod camp, just south/southwest of the Reikland flight master. Basically it contained lots of fast respawning level 33 Canoneers & Spearmen. I tended to go there to just burn through the rested XP, then it would be a quick return to questing. I will be sorry to say goodbye to that camp when I reach 34.
Now I admit that my chaining killing mobs for rapid xp gain over christmas is contary to my main goal of enjoying the whole leveling experience. But there are a couple of reasons for the divergence from this happy path.
1. I experienced great pleasure from seeing ye old experience bar moving in a determined fashion upwards, especially after watching the bar move slowly from levels 20 – 30. It wasn’t anywhere near the bliss of Moderngrav or outside the Dragon Lairs in Midgard (DAOC), but it was very satisfactory.
2. I had also read in many places that the haul from 30 – 40 was a long one. So I didn’t want to miss an obvious opportunity to maximise my leveling, especially when that window had been so neatly presented during a holiday period.
It was only over the christmas period, that I was actually clearing down my rested XP. Probably the 1st time since early October.
I will almost certainly be looking at jumping forward a couple of chapters, when I feel the need to get on top of any rested xp mountains. The one thing that I find slightly strange, is the way that rested xp is currently presented. I am never really clear what my characters maximum rested xp is.
It will be interesting to see if the rested xp 3 times kill mulitplier is still in place tonight, I certainly hope so. Anyway Skarmedidoc is now finally into Tier 4 Chapter 15 Reikland and a whole bundle of crowd control annoyances. Lets hope Mythic can get on top of that sooner rather than later.
