So here we are at the start of 2009 and I personally would like to see somethings firmed up for the 1st quarter. So Mr Jacobs, what as a paying customer can I expect to see from Mythic?
Without a doubt, performance in large scale conflicts is still a major issue, even with the work undertaken so far. However how much X is still left in the tank to be extracted? At what point does Mythic say, “Sorry people, this is as good as you can expect without upgrading your hardware”, obviously this will never be uttered externally. Are we in the situation where the numbers just don’t work? What I am getting at is, are the large scale battles generating that much data, that the current architecture is insufficient.
I have a major upgrade cycle coming at the end of the month and I will certainly be arsed off if I don’t achieve a measurable frame rate increase. I know my hardware and it will be a significant step forward.
What can we expect from the combat and careers team? We are now in a situation where bugs need to be squashed once and for all. New releases will need to be rock solid, especially if there are 2 new melee dps classes are on the horizon. People need their current issues resolved before seeing even more changes being made to their babies. I know I wouldn’t like to see the new melee classes before April. Maybe beta test in during March, but present the testers, with some rock solid classes.
My disappointment with crafting is pretty significant. Sort the interface out and get the new crafting recipes copied into the Tome Of Knowledge (TOK). How can the TOK not be recording the successfully learnt crafting receipes is beyond me, it’s either the TOK or it isn’t. Make the data available to the add on people, so it can be easily incorporated into additional crafting panels in a more streamlined fashion.
The ORvR environment needs filling out. As many people have commented in forums and blogs, there are limits to how many times you can knock down the doors and kill the lord. That along with dungeons, live events and quests should be filling up the content teams iternary.
It’s important that Mythic & GOA maintain their proactive approach to communications. So an update outlining what they hope to achieve this quarter, would be a very good start.
