Okay with the release of 1.1, we or should I say the general warhammer public will get a main assist function, that doesn’t require the installation of the IsAssistTracker addon. Now just because someone gets something, it doesn’t mean that they will have commonsense and discipline to use it, so that’s a bit of good news.
When I was a Bonedancer (Caster) in DAOC, this function was my main friend, when I wasn’t trying to interupt the healers and casters of Hibernia and Albion. I would jump onto our main assists current target and help with increasing the damage. However as a healer in Warhammer, I am not sure I am going to have the same love affair. In DAOC it was there, but not really in your face. What I mean is, there wasn’t a skulls head, indicating that a specific function existed in the game. Now you will have people saying, even if they don’t read the patch notes “What’s the skulls head about?” … followed by a dawning realisation of “nice”.
Onto the other part of the title, Vs TKK. Will this MA function make a mockery of the TKK figures that Mythic were so proud of. Could good old health bar flatterning of DAOC be incoming again (More so than just with Witch Elfs vs Cloth Wearers)? It’s where the casters double or triple team on one target and basically vapourise the players health bar. No room for a healer to even begin to cast a healing spell. In this era of stacking dots, you could in theory load up a target with DoTs and jump onto the next target. Not even waiting for the person to die, just knowing they were already a dead man walking. At least in DAOC, you could buy a group protection ability that absorbed 50% of all caster damage for 30 seconds.
I could worrying about nothing and it’s going to be business as normal. Somehow I think it is going to be the scene from Aliens, when the Marines go into tunnels beneath the cooling towers and encounter the Aliens for the 1st time.
One final thing. We have /assist, we have /follow. The only thing that’s missing is /stick, from the list of things that weren’t going to make it into Warhammer from DAOC.
