What is going on with the animations, seriously they seem to be all over the place timing wise. I actually stopped looking at the animations and just concentrated on the mobs health bar. I had to focus on how many times I pressed a spell attack, since there was sometimes no on screen indication of the spell firing. One of the guys in the guild has a add on which tells him how long a spell is going to take and how long the spell actually took, so he can monitor lag. It was very informative last night, lets put it that way.
Now this may have been simply down to more bandwidth being sucked up by the 78MB patch, which had the knock on effect of reducing bandwidth available for client to server communications. Anyway it was annoying. Now if animations being out of sync was down to higher than normal network traffic, then the warhammer client seems more susceptible to it, than the DAOC client was. Potentially GOA need to have a real look at their network infrastructure for patch release days.
However if it’s a programming issue, then someone should be sat down and given a ticking off or Mythic need to look at their testing. This really shouldn’t have gone out of the door like this.
On a more positive note, my rune priest seemed a lot more potent against higher level mobs. Skarmedidoc is currently at 27 and seemed to chew through 28’s and 29’s a lot quicker. Maybe I always could do it, but since I was tending to do quests lower than my level, then I hadn’t noticed. Anyway I spent 1.5 hours just killing higher levels mobs. Hell when combined with the previous nights ORvR, I have pretty much gone through level 27. So it’s been a very positive couple of days.
Some other things I noticed, were the morale abilities. My level 1 and 2 now seem to have animations. Now they may have always had animations and were never firing on the screen. But last night I actually saw them clearly firing. Good tick in the box there.
While I was on, I nipped into the Empire starting area. All I will say is that those 2 handed swords are MASSIVE. I do believe they are taller than then people holding them, which begs the question, how do they carry them?
