So there was a post a couple of hours ago, which basically summarised the changes Mythic are now planning based upon feedback in the thread I just linked you to.

Archmage
Isha’s Encouragement- Will add a Heal over time on a successful Cleansing Light use.
Boon of Hysh- 2s cast time. (reduction in fragility)

As has already been reported, there has been a rejigging of the cost in emblems and insignia for scenario weapons, and about bloody time to. Even before the RvR Pack accelerated the RP gains, I was crying out for a lowing of the cost of these weapons. Buying a 2 handed anything was a major undertaking and really wasn’t that pleasurable an experience, given how slow I perceived the progress to be. However with new RP gain rate for those with the RvR pack, things must have been put seriously out of kilter. The relationship between RR levels and the number of scenario’s you could reasonably do before moving out of that weapon’s RR band was skew whiff, or in other words your RR was outpacing the weapons you could acquire.

It’s All Too Difficult

Yep, if you read the forums and trawl through all the crap people are getting wtf owned, all I can say is “c’est la vie”. What I found very impressive was that within 24 hours these people had taken on board all the changes, defined new strategies for this system and basically come back with it’s all pointless. I do enjoy the “I quit” posts and “Bring back 1.3.6″, they bring a smile to my face. Mind the door as you leave.

1.4 goes live on Thursday the 18th of November, so it’s time to raid your children’s piggy bank. Purely from a practical point of view, does that mean that Thursday night for Europe is effectively a wipe out, if it is, then I’ll go watch Skyline.

Firstly Friday night went well. Of course there are still minor issues to resolve, a bit of spit and polish to apply (Acquiring Rams), but on the whole it should be fine. That’s assuming all the code gets transferred to the live machines correctly, but heh that’s what development environments are for, to make the release of software updates a relatively easy job, database changes not with standing.

In an attempt not to be so rushed this Friday night (European night-time that is) for the PTS session (12/11/2010), I decided to prepare my character (Laminar) in advance. I kind of look at it, as being the last PTS session before the release of 1.4, unless of course something becomes really unstuck tomorrow night. At least this way I get to play an RR100, until at least RR100 -120 comes out and RR100 becomes the new entry-level.

What’s nice, is in an attempt to anticipate the whiners, Mythic have loaded up your inventory with pretty much all the RR80/90/100 armour sets, so you can combine them in any way you want.

Of course, I just chucked something together out of the wardrobe, just to max out int/crit%, without any more thought than that. It’s always a pain when you have too much choice and don’t have the mandatory 3 weeks leveling to get to that rank, to work out what you’re going to wear. How that extra 1% of x is going to make you that great player, you’re mum always said you were going to be.

Anyways, internet, Mythic, PC, wife willing I will be seeing some of you tomorrow night.

A couple of final things. If I was you, I’d log on and make sure you are all patched up before tomorrow, since I had a 436MB patch waiting for me. Now normally with my 5MB connection, I’d barely have time for a trip to the urinal, but with my current ISP issues, it’s taking a wee bit longer. You’ve been warned, have the decency not to whine tomorrow night, if you can’t get the patch files down in time.

Also from what Werit and Shadow-war said, it was mega busy and all 500 connections per side were used up. This could be a definite, if you snooze you lose evening.

Yes it’s been shifted due to data issues on the PTS, obviously someone went and waved a magnet over the disks. So for once I’m providing a public service announcement and warning you not to log onto the PTS tonight (Tuesday).

So Wednesday is now the turn of the US/Canada, unless you’re a lesser European night owl, due to its 02.00 CET kick off time. Friday night is Europes turn, with a 20.00 CET start time, so I’ll probably indulge myself with a fishcake, chips and a beer. I think time wise Europe is in synch with th UK and we’re all running on the same clock.

If there is one thing that seems to be causing more fat to be chewed, than anything else at the moment, it’s the RVR Progression pack. Below we have the brief description of it’s core function, which is all we have to work with at this time.

The Progression Pack gives players an opportunity to advance through the Renown Ranks faster and advance their character up to Renown Rank 100! This includes access to all bonuses, items, and rewards that are gated by the expanded Renown Ranks.

Fair enough I suppose. Now there is one itty bitty line further down in the 1.4 patch notes that’s causing a lot of consternation among the players who are currently aware of it.

* Players that have purchased the Progression Pack will find that their Renown gain has been boosted for Renown Ranks 0-80.

So my first thought when I read all this was wooooh, steady on tiger.

* To accommodate the addition of new armor and item sets into the game, we’ve made the following changes to reward distribution.

- Annihilator: This Renown armor set is now exclusively available on the RvR merchants and no longer costs alternate currency.
- Conqueror: This Renown armor set is now exclusively available on the RvR merchants and no longer requires Conqueror Crests to purchase.
- Warlord: This Renown armor set will now be attainable in Gold bags rewarded for the capture of a Tier 4 Keep.
- Sovereign: This Renown armor set is now attained in gold bags awarded when victorious in Stage I of the City Siege public quest.
- Non-set armor and weapons previously awarded in Stage III of the City Siege public quests are now found in Stage I of the City Siege public quests.
- Non-set armor and weapons previously awarded in Stage II of the City Siege public quests are now found in Tier 4 Keeps.
- Players will now receive Warlord Crests as a reward for successfully capturing an ORvR zone.
- Players will now receive Invader Crests for their efforts if they do not receive a bag after successfully completing a Tier 4 Keep public quest.
- Players will now be awarded Invader Crests as the alternate currency option inside all public quests bags from Tier 4 Keeps.
- Players will now be awarded Royal Crests from Stage I of the City Siege public quests.
- The losing realm will now be awarded Royal Crests from Stage I of the City Siege public quests.
* New armor sets and items are available from the quartermasters and via drops in the game to accommodate Renown Ranks 81+.

First off, I only managed to stay on for about 1.5 hrs, so I didn’t see the conclusion of the evening. So up to 9.30 PM GMT, I basically saw Order give destruction the run around. Destruction seemed to blob up more than order, which allowed order to control the BO’s for longer and hence get to the Garrison Of Skulls sooner. What happened after that, I have no idea, though the rams bugging slowed things down a little.

One thing I had forgotten in the last few months, has been that some of you may sit behind corporate firewalls, where following links to Mythic Bioware EA websites would be restricted. So for a one-off special, I’ll post the whole thing. So here goes.
