As has already been reported, there has been a rejigging of the cost in emblems and insignia for scenario weapons, and about bloody time to. Even before the RvR Pack accelerated the RP gains, I was crying out for a lowing of the cost of these weapons. Buying a 2 handed anything was a major undertaking and really wasn’t that pleasurable an experience, given how slow I perceived the progress to be. However with new RP gain rate for those with the RvR pack, things must have been put seriously out of kilter. The relationship between RR levels and the number of scenario’s you could reasonably do before moving out of that weapon’s RR band was skew whiff, or in other words your RR was outpacing the weapons you could acquire.
Now if you are one of the few fools who doesn’t have the RvR Pack , then you’ve got something for nothing, but I really can’t imagine there’s anyone out there who doesn’t have this pack. The sell through rate must be 90 – 100%. Seriously if you haven’t, then please go to see a shrink since you need your head examining, that’s of course assuming you haven’t already worn a groove in the couch.
I have to be honest, I’m a little bit confused as to why the new costs weren’t rolled out with the 1.4 patch, since the metrics should have indicated where people would be with the new rate of RP gain. The only reason I can fathom, is that Mythic were unsure where to pitch the numbers and rather than have a couple of stabs at it, looking a bit chumpish in the process, waited until there was a reasonable dataset post 1.4 implementation. See I can throw Mythic a bone occasionally.
Of course this change though pleasing the majority still manages to raise the hackles of some of the intellectually challenged who play the game. Yes, it’s all to easy now, blah blah blah. I swear to god, their lone brain cell must get ever so lonely in there, especially with no one to talk to. At least the other brain cell, is spared their monotonous diatribe.
I struggle to understand how people can’t realise the bigger picture. The band between the highest and the lowest players must be kept within an effective distance of each other. As new content, levels etc comes along, then the lower players must be accelerated to within a workable level of the top of the tree. If you are lucky/lonely enough that this game is the only thing you do all day and your RL commitments are minor, you will always have an advantage of level, beyond what your obviously already leet skills have provided. So cut the majority of the player base some slack, unless you want to be playing on your lonesome in this MMO.
This is why in MMO’s it doesn’t pay to be first. What do you really get? A medal? Player admiration? It’s a freaking game that’s supposed to be fun, it’s not the Super Bowl.
Those who’ve been around the block since launch know that the first group of RR80′s did it the hard way … their journey was up hill and down through the snow without shoes. For those hitting RR80 today it is an easier ride. You did a good job of expressing why it is important to ease things so the lower ranked players can keep up as much as possible. Who wants to get annihilated by RR80+ demigods? No one. And the L2P meme is absurd because no matter how good you are as a RR60 player the RR90 is still going to probably squash you.
I’m looking forward to the new prices and hopefully I already have enough emblems/insignias for my Royal.
Well I am wondering if I can now already get the Invader Insignia Trophy. The question is, do I carry doing scenario’s or do I just wait a week or 2.
