Okay, I am alive, but trying to make as much progress while the European servers are on double rp at the moment. I think it finishes today, which is a real shame.
My beloved daughter (33 months old) has decided to give up her afternoon naps, now that the sides have been taken off her cot bed. So I have no legal way of enforcing a nap on her, which wouldn’t end me up with me in jail. This has significantly cut into my blogging time.
The new home laptop has turned up, which has also involved “time” to get setup, which as per normal wasn’t as straight forward as I would have liked. Initial thoughts on the Asus N52JV are very good (i5 M450 with Nvidia Optimus with a 325GT M gfx chipset running Win 7 x64 home premium). Performance is nice and once it’s out of warranty in 2 years time, it’s getting a SSD fitted.
Also had the new satellite card come in for my HPTC, with its dual sat, dual tv connection (Blackgold BGT 3595), which will also get a processor and memory upgrade (2 -4 GB) at the same time. So there goes another evening or 2. Probably perform a rebuild from Win 7 x86 to x64 while I’m at it. Then putting on MyMovies 3, Media Control with FFDSHOW tryout and getting them all singing from the same hymn sheet. Ho Hum.
During August/September, ripping up the 1st floor to lay a new solid oak floor. While it’s up, lay cat 6 to about 15 outlets (3 face plates a room, with 2 cables per faceplate) on the ground and 1st floors, which I will then connect to the 2nd floor, which is already hard-wired. I’m not really looking forward to the chasing in and replastering that will be needed, but I can’t stand cables clipped to the walls, it does my head it. So this is a bit of a heads up, I will be slightly distracted over the next couple of months.
On the good side, my RR on Laminar is up to 46, nearly 47. I’ve decided to skip Conqueror and just save my very valuable officer medallions for a really worthy cause, which Conqueror isn’t (The armour that time forgot).
Finally finished watching Season 4 of Dexter, which truly rocks, bring on Season 5 in September. The Gates is warming up nicely, Haven is a bit of a still birth and I don’t think it looking good long-term, especially if something like Defying Gravity can be canned. Lie To Me is as good as always. True Blood gets better by the season as the back ground becomes more fleshed out.
So as you can see, a lot of things to do and feeling a bit stretched.
